The nature of breaking

Hub New Music and the "striking" (New York Times) composer/harpist Hannah Lash collaborate on a new multi-movement work for mixed quartet and harp. Lash joins the ensemble as the harpist in her thirty minute work, The Nature of Breaking, that explores the limitless expressive range of this new instrumentation. Also on the program, Lash performs solo harp works transcribed from the classical piano literature, HNM offers works from its quartet repertoire, and the two collaborate on their transcriptions of Messiaen's kaleidoscopic Piano Preludes.

This commission has been made possible by the Chamber Music America Classical Commissioning Program, with generous funding provided by The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, and the Chamber Music America Endowment Fund. Additional support from the Cricket Foundation.
